Hwahye, traditional shoes from Korea


Korean traditional shoe has a beautiful color and fine lines. These shoes are called Hwahye but Korea also refer to as the "shoe flower" because of their resemblance to the flower petals.

Hwahye shoes worn by the groom and the bride during the royal wedding and for other events such as the day of national mourning.
There are many types of Hwahye used by different types of people according to their age, social class, and gender.

By just looking at the traditional Korean shoes worn by people in the Joseon era, you can find out the age, social class, and gender of the person wearing it. Hwahye Shoes is a special icon for Koreans who love the beautiful craft.
